This guide provides information about alcohol and pregnancy to health professionals working with Aboriginal women.

The guide was developed to support health care practitioners, educators, drug and alcohol workers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners to assess and provide interventions for alcohol use with clients.

The companion resource, Yarning about alcohol and pregnancy, is a booklet that can be filled out in conjunction with a client to discuss:

  • health risks to you and your baby
  • no amount of alcohol is safe when pregnant
  • if alcohol is a worry
  • reasons to change
  • tips for change.

This publication was adapted from a resource by the Northern Territory Department of Health, in conjunction with the Menzies School of Health Research.
