What is pharmacotherapy and what types of pharmacotherapy services are available?

16/07/2018

Pharmacotherapy involves replacing a person's drug of choice with a legally prescribed and dispensed substitute.

Pharmacotherapy services for opioid dependence are delivered in NSW via specialist clinics, community pharmacies, general practitioners, public hospitals, and in prisons and juvenile detention centres.  Treatment can be prescribed by a public or private doctor who is registered as an Opioid Treatment Program provider.
