How is the harmfulness of a drug determined?

The harmfulness of drug use is determined by the following factors:

  • The drug: The type of drug, the amount and frequency used, and whether it is mixed with other drugs or medicines.

  • The person: The age, gender, and physical and mental health of the person using.

  • The place: Where the person uses the drug, e.g. in an unsafe environment with strangers, alone at home, near water, with machinery etc.
