Tracking the decline in Australian adolescent drinking into adulthood

​Adolescent drinking in Australia (and many other countries) has declined substantially since the early 2000s. However, there remains some uncertainty as to whether the recent declines in teen drinking will carry on into adulthood or if these generations of young people will 'catch up' as they age into their twenties.

This study aimed to examine whether these declines have been maintained into adulthood and whether they are consistent across sub-groups defined by sex and socio-economic status.
